4 MACRO TRENDS OF SUMMER 2025

I. METAMORPHOSES

The spring-summer 2025 season reflects a time of transition when social, geopolitical, and climatic changes affect design, production methods, and consumption patterns.

The chrysalis, the symbol of renewal, illustrates this borderline moment between the two states. This concept of mutation and transformation is expressed in many ways.

The ethereal lightness of flowing and translucent veils and openwork fabrics borders on ephemerality (prerequisites are at the recent Saint Laurent show)

Summer shirts are decorated with embroidery, sequins or beads, giving a feminine, romantic touch to the wardrobe element traditionally associated with men's fashion. 

Microscopic elements borrowed from the natural world are transformed into a pattern that resembles camouflage.

Multifunctional items and utilitarian elements borrowed from military uniforms are becoming part of the everyday wardrobe.

II. NATURAL WORLD

The climate crisis calls for greater cooperation with the natural world. New technological solutions are emerging at the intersection of nature and technology. Vegetable and cellulose fibers are mixed to create hybrid materials. 

Our co-existence with the natural world is being explored anew. The desire to contribute to its regeneration and introduce environmentally friendly production processes is reflected in collections that focus on naturalness. 

Nature, in all its exuberant diversity, is an endless source of inspiration for patterns and textures: from beetles to amphibians to water snakes – the focus is on shiny, moire surfaces with deep iridescent reflections. 

The animal world is viewed in a new light: the skins of reptiles and fish, the shells of insects seem to be viewed under a microscope. In jacquard and embroidery, the extraordinary richness of the fauna is shown in textured effects that resemble natural fur and leather.

III. FADED DREAMS

This season is dominated by pale watercolor shades. Slightly muted, they look almost discolored. This effect has a technological rationale: when applied to textiles, these minimalistic designs require less pigment when printed, which reduces the environmental impact.

Patterns differ in either geometric accuracy or blurriness. It seems like the cell literally dissolves into the tissue. Geometric shapes are deliberately distorted, erased, creating an almost psychedelic look. Pastel-colored patterns blur and overlap to create an abstract motif. 

Bleached denim this season gets a sandy shade: from yellow to ochre and olive. 

IV. THE CHILD INSIDE 

In search of peace in a world of suffering and an attempt to block out the fear of war and climate change, design and fashion turn to memories from our childhood. The need for naivety and colorfulness suggests a variety of shades (look for inspiration in cartoon characters like Minnie Mouse)

Recently, details of children's clothing are gradually entering the fashion sphere in the form of balloon sleeves (Poor Things, 2023), doll dresses, men's shorts and colored socks.

Being under the constant pressure of the crisis, people face doom and decide to bypass our depressive times, lifting their spirits, returning their thoughts to a carefree childhood.
