Jahnkoy /The Displaced

The brand of Siberian designer Maria Kazakova is called Jahnkoy, which means "the village of a new spirit" in the language of the Crimean Tatars.

After two years of studying economics in her native Novosibirsk, Maria moved to Moscow and graduated from the British Higher School of Design. A year after graduation she moved to London, enrolled in Central Saint Martins, and a year later moved to New York to continue her studies - this time in Parsons.

Maria's video The Displaced, created for the final exam, was then the basis for her non-student debut. It took place at the Men's Fashion Week in New York on January 31, 2017. Business of Fashion immediately dubbed Kazakova as a "rising star".
